This Week’s M&A Overview

M&A activity within the merchant acquiring industry picked up some steam this week with several new acquisitions announced. European payment service provider, Worldline, announced a majority stake in GoPay, a payment gateway provider centered in the Eastern European region. This acquisition helps support Worldline’s focus in the eCommerce marketplace as it brings more than 9,000 online shops to Worldline’s client base. Furthermore, this deal follows Worldline’s previous acquisition of Ingenico from earlier this year and suggests that the company is continuing to drive M&A deals as it seeks to further expand its reach.

In addition, Payroc made an announcement this week on their acquisition of Gateway Payments. Through this acquisition, Payroc will accumulate more sales personnel and increase their merchant base, which now sits at 55,000 across 46 countries. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the transaction closed on February 28th. Payroc is continuing with their growth efforts, both organically and through acquisitions.
